“A Legacy of Valor: The Story of Dorie Miller”Presented by Dorie Miller Post 194 & Auxiliary in partnership with the Arlington Historical Society
Step back into history and celebrate the courage of Doris “Dorie” Miller, a U.S. Navy hero whose bravery at Pearl Harbor broke barriers and inspired generations. Miller’s extraordinary act of valor—manning an anti-aircraft gun to defend his ship despite having no formal training—earned him the Navy Cross, making him the first African American sailor to receive that honor.
Learn how his legacy inspired the founding of Post 194, as Kenneth shares its storied history and Marjorie shines light on the Auxiliary’s proud traditions.
