Each year, American Legion Dorie Miller Post 194 proudly joins the Arlington community in commemorating Annual Dorie Miller Day, a special observance established through a Virginia House Joint Resolution to honor the extraordinary courage, patriotism, and sacrifice of Doris "Dorie" Miller. The annual commemoration ceremony serves as a time of reflection, remembrance, and gratitude for a man whose heroic actions during the attack on Pearl Harbor challenged barriers, inspired generations of Americans, and forever changed the course of military history.

For Post 194, this celebration holds special significance. As the American Legion Post in Arlington proudly bearing Dorie Miller's name, we are committed to preserving his legacy through service, leadership, patriotism, and community engagement. Each year, veterans, military leaders, elected officials, community organizations, students, and residents gather to celebrate an American hero whose courage transcended race and rank, reminding us that true leadership is defined by character, selfless service, and an unwavering commitment to others.
